Graduating Student Scholarships

 

Rochester Community and Technical College Foundation Scholarships for Graduating Students 2008-2009 


Douglass Family Scholarship   Number of Scholarships varies - $2,000 each

Awarded to students who have completed all requirements necessary to earn an Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree from RCTC with intent to continue studies for a baccalaureate degree.  Students must have financial need and a minimum 3.3 GPA.  Eligible students must have completed the majority of credits at RCTC.  Scholarships are renewable for a second year based on similar criteria. All applicants must complete the Graduating Student application form as well as include an essay describing career and long-term goals.

 


The Bateman Family Scholarship 1 Scholarship - $2,500

Awarded to a qualified graduating student who is planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Social Science at a four year college or university.  Preference will be given to current recipient if they have maintained their GPA and Social Science focus.  The student should possess a 3.5 GPA and be enrolled full time.  Student may be eligible a second year based on same criteriaA new application must be submitted to be reconsidered.


Mayo Foundation Scholarship   1 Scholarship - $1,250

Awarded to a sophomore who has completed two or more years at RCTC and is going on to complete a 4-year degree in pre-medical studies and has intention to attend medical school.  This scholarship is renewable for a second year upon application with Mayo Foundation.


English Department Scholarship 1 Scholarship - $600

To be awarded to a student majoring in English who is either entering the second year of study at RCTC or graduating and pursuing a bachelor degree at four year college or university.


Milton W. and Charlotte Anderson Scholarship 2 Scholarships - $1,000

Awarded to a student graduating from RCTC who has been accepted for entry into a Minnesota college or university and is pursuing a four-year degree majoring in the field of education.  The student should possess a minimum 3.25 GPA and qualify for financial assistance from RCTC.  A short  essay describing career and long-term goals is required to be considered and is to be include with the application.


The Mike and Diane Quinn/Rochester Area Alumni and Friends of the University of Minnesota (RAAFUM) Scholarship  1 Scholarship - $2,000

Awarded to a student who has completed a minimum of one year at RCTC, who is graduating from RCTC and transferring to one of the Twin Cities campuses of the University of Minnesota. Student must have 3.0 GPA or higher. Award based on financial need, school activities, and community involvement or work. Student may be eligible for a second year award based on program progress and full-time student status.


Izaak Walton League, Rochester Chapter  1 or more scholarships- $ variable

Awarded to a student with a declared field of study related to conservation or a strong preference for a conservation field. Preference will be given to students who attended high school in Olmstead County, followed by students from SE Minnesota counties, and financial need. May be awarded subsequent years to the same recipient. ESSAY: College and Career objectives, and how the mission of the Izaak Walton League fits with your goals.


Dr. Mary Goette Memorial Scholarship 2 Scholarships - $1,000

Awarded to a graduating RCTC sophomore in the liberal arts to further their education at a four-year institution. Eligible students must have completed the majority of credits at RCTC. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must intend to pursue studies and a career in Psychology (or a related field), Women’s Studies, or Political Science.


Lavine Family Scholarship 1 Scholarship - $1,000

Awarded to a student majoring in Liberal Arts who participated in activities while at RCTC and plans to pursue a four year degree. Recipient must have graduated from high school no more than four years prior and have a 3.3 or better GPA.


Apollo Dental Center Hygiene Scholarship 1 Scholarship - $500

Apollo Dental Center Assistant Scholarship  1 Scholarship - $500

Awarded to an outstanding dental hygiene (assistant) student who embodies a professional attitude and represents excellence in the field.
