All students who are registered for the current term and have a Financial Aid Award Letter on file with the Financial Aid Office will be eligible for a deferment of up to $500.00. Please note, however, that book deferments are available only for a short time at the beginning of each semester. Specific dates for the upcoming semester are listed below.

The cost of deferred items will be added to your RCTC bill and you will be expected to pay for these items along with any outstanding tuition and fees - - even if your Financial Aid is not enough to cover the charges.

How do I obtain a Book Deferment?

1. You must have a Financial Aid award letter on file with the Financial Aid Office to be eligible for a deferment.

2. For Fall Semester 2008, deferments will be available between
   Monday, August 18, 2008 and Friday, August 29, 2008 directly from the Bookstore. (Dates subject to change)

3. Proceed to the Bookstore and select your textbooks. The Bookstore staff will already have your deferment form. You will need to read and sign the deferment form when processing your transaction.

4. ONLINE Purchases: If you plan to purchase your textbooks online you must download and submit the Bookstore Deferment Form to the Financial Aid Office PRIOR to placing your online order. Forms should be submitted to:

   When placing your order online, proceed to the checkout and select "FINANCIAL AID" as your payment method. In the Account Number field, you will enter your Student ID Number. The Bookstore staff will confirm that you have a deferment form on file prior to fulfilling your order.
   
   
5. When the deferment window has closed, the cost of deferred items will be added to your student account. If you return or exchange textbooks and qualify for a refund, your account will be credited in the same manner*. You will be expected to pay RCTC for all deferred items. If your Financial Aid is not sufficient to cover the balance due, you must pay for the charged items from your own funds.
   
   
6. No Bookstore Deferments will be allowed after 4:30 pm on the fifth day of the Semester.
