of Pride
- The formation of the Rochester
Community and Technical College Student Senate, the first consolidated
Senate in the State has served as a model for other consolidating
groups.
- The publishing of an integrated
quarterly course schedule "The Link" for Rochester's public
and private higher education providers.
- The University Center Rochester
(UCR) partnership with the University of Minnesota Rochester Center
and Winona State University Rochester Center has achieved efficiencies
through the sharing of services such as library, computer support,
duplicating center, and maintenance.
- The diversity of partnerships
moving the college to a "one-stop-shop" with Minnesota Technology,
Choices, PACTT, Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Area Quality
Council, Federal Medical Center, Job Training Center, Private Industry
Council, RAEDI and others aligning programs and services.
- Rochester Technical and
Community College's ADAPT (Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team) program
was selected for inclusion in the 1996 Sourcebook published by George
Mason University as an exemplary campus program in addressing alcohol
misuse on college campuses.
- Establishment of a $400,000
comprehensive workforce development education program with PEMSTAR,
Inc. PEMSTAR is a Rochester-based contract manufacturer that is among
the fastest growing firms in Minnesota. It was created through diverse
private-public partnerships at the state and local level.
- The creation of the Decision
Support Center (DSC), a private-public partnership with IBM Rochester,
the University of Minnesota Rochester Center, Winona State University
Rochester Center, and Rochester Community and Technical College. This
decision enhancing lab utilizes the latest productivity software aiding
organizational and community development.
- The consolidated Rochester
Community and Technical College Foundation completed the first Masco
Gifts and Grants report showing a grand total of $2M in new resources
supporting the Foundation and the College.
- Formation of a partnership
with the Department of Economic Security, Minnesota Workforce Center
at Rochester, and the Rochester Job Service to serve as a Workers
Educational Service Center for workforce skills testing and education.
- The diversity of international
students Rochester Community and technical College has hosted in its
Youth for Understanding program in the past four years. This
year thirteen students from ten countries are enrolled. The College
was chosen by YFU, International three years ago to be one of the
first American colleges to host students from the former Soviet Union.
- The RCTC Law Enforcement
Program has established a strong working relationship with Hibbing
Community College to provide law enforcement "skills" training
in Rochester. (Previously, Southeast Minnesota students had to travel
to Alexandria or Hibbing to receive the skills training.) Under
the agreement, Hibbing Community College provides skills training
in Rochester, utilizing the expertise of Rochester area peace officers
as instructors. Students from Winona State University and Riverland
Community College also attend the skills program in Rochester.
