Question:
b. From the frequency table, construct a grouped cumulative frequency table. Construct a grouped cumulative frequency curve from this table.
Answer:
How to do it, step by step:
Subtract
High value - low value = 49-19=30Divide the difference by 3, by 5, by 7 etc. until the
interval is from 10 to 20.
30/3=10 or approx. 10 intervals with a width of 3 will cover up to 30 scores
Start with 18-20; that makes the midpoint a multiple of the interval width.
|
Grouped Frequency Table, Interval width =3, |
| Score Interval | Midpoint X | Frequency f | Cumulative frequency cf |
| 48-50 | 49 | 4 | 120 |
| 45-47 | 46 | 9 | 116 |
| 42-44 | 43 | 7 | 107 |
| 39-41 | 40 | 14 | 100 |
| 36-38 | 37 | 15 | 86 |
| 33-35 | 34 | 12 | 71 |
| 30-32 | 31 | 17 | 59 |
| 27-29 | 28 | 15 | 42 |
| 24-26 | 25 | 16 | 27 |
| 21-23 | 22 | 10 | 11 |
| 18-20 | 19 | 1 | 1 |
The Grouped Cumulative Frequency Curve is sent via Jpeg
attachment to email.
The graph of the cumulative frequency curve should look like the smooth edge
between red and white of cumulative histogram below if the cumulative histogram
had an infinite number of intervals spread across the relevant scores.
