Students are required to read assigned chapters before scheduled classes
occur.
For in-class students,
the instructor identifies the trouble spots which were confusing upon first
reading, and sends the students home to complete their study guides. Every
fifth session is a day for review, followed by a day for an exam on previously
studied material from the text and study guide.
For
distant learning students, the instructor provides modules of
instruction. Each module corresponds to an assigned chapter and contains
two daily class outlines called Part One and Part Two (with the thought that it
takes two sessions to master a chapter), PowerPoint slides, an immediate link to
chapter learning objectives, and your textbook publisher provides online self-testing with immediate grading.
If you mark the wrong answer, you are given page references for the right answer
in both your text and study guide. If you need still further help, the
instructor included in each module links to Alternate Lesson Plans with
Alternate Slides.
Completing the Study Guide after reading the Text is proof that you have
mastered the learning objectives.
Survey of Economics study 12 chapters from a text and
study guide with ample amounts of online support.
Each assigned chapter in the text begins by identifying from two to five
learning objectives and the order in which they will be taught. Each
learning objective in the text is followed by a practice problem that includes a
short explanation.
Each corresponding chapter in the study guide begins by identifying the learning objectives, and provides a more extensive answer to the problem from the text. Your study guide contains an additional problem and solution for each course objective. A self-test is provided on each course objective and all the answers are included. Self-tests contain true-false, multiple choice, fill-in, graph-the-graph, and numeric and short answer problems.
Working with fellow study partners in-class and online is uniquely
helpful!
In-class and distant learning students take the same exams (Exams #1, #2, and
#3) and have similar requirements to complete Projects #1,#2, #3, and #4.
Your instructor knows his stuff! So will you.
These courses emphasize and teach you 21st Century learning skills like
listening and speaking skills, quantitative analysis, and critical thinking. These 21st Century attributes will make you more productive in
today's globally competitive workforce. Your instructor practices what he
preaches. He is the co-author of the Study Guide Accompanying Essential Foundations
of Economics. Your text and study guide are the third most widely
used, and are serving students in the United States,
Canada, and Australia. Your instructor has approximately a decade of
experience teaching at the community college level and another decade of
experience teaching at the the four-year college and university level.
You can get off to a successful start by considering how to apply the
3-step method below to your studies.

) and to two communication tools
we use extensively:
- Discussion Group; and
- Email capability to other enrolled classmates.
6. Know What To
Do When BlackBoard Fails.
Since BlackBoard will fail on occasions, visit the
Instructor Homepage at
http://164.106.143.4/eco.
Make sure you can use the instructor website link to find:
(1) the
Syllabus,
(2) the
|
15-Module Calendar |
contains:
(i) Chapter Title, and further links to
(ii) Course Objectives for each chapter
(iii) Lesson Plan Part 1 and Part 2 for each chapter and
(iv) Chapter PowerPoint Lecture.
2nd Step:
Learn What You Have to Learn.
- How The Course is Organized,
- What The Course Objectives Are, and

- You can also so this by taking practice exams online at http://www.myeconlab.com/.
3rd Step:
Meet Your
Classmates, and Use Electronic Resources, and attend class if you registered
for an in-class section.
