I.  This syllabus is a guide for students enrolled in  Survey of Economics that may be modified by Thomas Meyer, the instructor.  This syllabus presumes: (1) availability and continuous registered student use of resources provided by PHCC, (2) possession of hardcopy texts and study guides, (3) a functional instructor and support staffs, (4) a virtual or actual classroom used along with a Blackboard electronic delivery system, (5) supportive plug-ins enabling student email to each other & the instructor, and downloading of materials in a variety of formats, (6) student access to computers having an Internet Explorer browser, (7) a PHCC 3-semester schedule, (8) equivalent evaluation standards for in-class and distant learners, (9) integrity of student work, and (10) a safe/disciplined learning environment compliant with Virginia Community College and PHCC guidelines.  Contact our webmaster mnelson@ph.vccs.edu if you need help with Blackboard, or our distant learning center director cford@ph.vccs.edu if you need proctored exams at PHCC or elsewhere.

 II.  Every registered student is responsible for seeing that he or she can gain access to this syllabus and to the

from the first day of class.   The most current copy of this syllabus can be accessed through the Division Dean’s office computer. 

When you’re ready to begin this course, send a copy of the following affidavit to the instructor:  

“I am a registered student; I’ve gotten my required text and study guide.  I’m ready and able to link to and can understand each part of the Syllabus and 15-Module Calendar using a school or personal computer.”
