At a time when the United States nationally is more than ever aware of the importance of understanding how other cultures think and see the world, it is crucial students study a foreign language in order to see the world through another culture's eyes, ie, their language and cultural institutions. There are practical applications of foreign language skills. In particular, the areas of Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Law Enforcement, Hotel/Motel and Tourism specifically need individuals with foreign language skills.
The following short list of Programs of Study from the RCTC catalog should encourage students to take some Foreign Language in their elective credits, to prepare the students for their future and current jobs and to make them more competitive.
