2. Practice the use of PowerPoint as a presentational aid in your own
speech presentation.

4. To explore and impart knowledge and awareness concerning global current
event issues.

news articles.

7. Practice effective public speaking delivery skills.
ASSIGNMENT:
You are to research and choose a current events news article(s) of your
choice. If more than one article is used they should pertain to the same
subject matter. Read the article(s), present the information, and your
reactions to the information to the class using PowerPoint as a presentational
aid. The speech should follow the "recipe" of public speaking
as we have been studying with a clear Introduction and all of it's parts,
an easy to follow Body with clear main points, an effective Conclusion
with summary and closure provided. Citation of source(s) of article(s)
should be conversationally announced during the presentation. Your total
presentation should be about 3-5 minutes in length. Rule of thumb - one
slide per/minute, so 4-5 slides for a four-minute presentation is plenty.
Why not download any relevant pictures/photos that you might find via
the web to further enhance your presentation. Include in your presentation
your own reaction to your article.
This presentation is worth 25 points and 10 points for the outline. Outlines,
bibliographies, and article copies are due at your speaking time.
Possible sources of information will include global/political/social/current
event oriented magazines, national/international newspapers, news oriented
web sites, etc. I would urge you to choose articles that are not an already
condensed version of a lengthier text. Duplication of articles will not
be allowed; we will sign up. Bring in your article name and source to
secure as yours. Start your research early and sign up early.
Basic Criteria for this Speech:
1. PowerPoint must be used as a presentational aid. Use it effectively.
