2-4 minute - SPEECH OF SELF-INTRODUCTION - 15 points

OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE
1. To introduce yourself to the class and to public speaking.
2. To share information about yourself with classmates and make your/their audience analysis for future speeches easier.
3. To measure your ability to observe time limits. (Practice and time your speech before you delivery it in class.)
4. To give you experience in front of this class with minimal pressure.
5. To get you started with proper speech format and outlines.


ORGANIZE YOUR IDEAS: Must have at least 3 main ideas in your speech.
· Past, Present, Future?
· Three aspects of your life that provides some insight about you as an individual-explain a favorite activity or hobby, describe a significant personal experience or person(s) in your life, express an important personal belief or value, talk about career/life goals, family, etc. ?

REQUIREMENTS - BASIC CRITERIA
· Develop an organizational outline for this speech. Follow the format I gave you. Outlines are due when you speak (10points)
· Deliver your speech from 0-2 note cards, 1side only. I will stop you if you read your speech.
· Practice your speech 3-4 times out-loud and time yourself/adjust accordingly.
· Speech should be between 2-4minutes in length.
· Speeches must follow the basic form, Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
· Body of the speech must have 3 main points.
· Use the 4S Strategy and transitions to organize the body of your speech.
· Presentational aids may be used and are encouraged.
· Bring videotape cassette to class. We will tape this speech. You will be required to analyze your speech and set personal speaking goals for this class as a result of giving and watching this speech.
