Chemistry or Magic? There's a Big Difference!

If a chemical demonstration is presented without an explanation it seems like magic. However, a chemical demonstration accompanied by an explanation will add greatly to the learning of the concept being exhibited. A sudden color change, the release of a gas, an immediate phase change, a loud noise, or a flash of light will develop a mental connection to the explanation. A series of demonstrations will be presented that align directly with chemical concepts taught in fundamental chemistry courses.
