We have been reading, discussing, and analyzing Fan Shen's book, GANG OF ONE, and will actually have Fan, in person, with us on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1.

You will be writing a two - four page maximum "Response" paper (MLA formatted), which, as defined in the dictionary means, literally: 1.The act of responding. 2.A reply or an answer.

You have had time up until now to annotate and think about Fan's book on a deeper level, as you should continue to do as a college student. As the geniuses, Socrates, and Da Vinci have done before us, we, as their followers of thought, should QUESTION EVERYTHING! The first part of your response, in preparation, is this:

Make a list of TEN questions that you have been thinking about and would like to know more about from Fan Shen.
On the day of his visit, all of you should have the opportunity to at least ask one of your questions from your list (your fellow classmates may have similar questions from your prepared list).
Record the response that Fan gives, and understand that listening, as well as participating, will be important.

You will be incorporating quotes from Fan's book, and from his visit, to create your final "Response Paper." In this paper, I want you to, first, type out your original ten questions. Next, you will choose one of those questions and create your response paper based on the answers that you have found. Remember, a response is NOT a summary; I want YOUR thoughts, connections, ideas, observations, words from reading this book, and I want them in some coherent manner onto paper (as opposed to just ramblings). Hint: I would start brainstorming now!
