Located In: Atrium Area - Third Floor
RCTC and WSU are now offering testing services in a secure, quiet environment for students who cannot take a scheduled class exam. This has proven to be a valuable service as it is sometimes difficult to coordinate a time when students and instructors can meet for a monitored exam outside of class. In addition, students taking online or traditional courses at institutions other than RCTC and WSU may also arrange for testing times. The Proctoring center also offers CLEP, DSST and Kryterion testing.
Please note that the UCR Proctoring Center cannot accommodate entire classes. This also means that instructors cannot use the testing services as a substitute for regular in-class exams. Further, all testing must take place in the UCR Proctoring Center, not in an instructor’s classroom.
To schedule an exam time, students should contact the UCR Proctoring Center at least one day in advance. NOTE: Drop-in services cannot be accommodated. This means that instructors cannot drop off exams and have students drop in during testing hours to take an exam without making an appointment.
RCTC students with disabilities should be referred to Travis Kromminga, Director of Disability Services, at (507) 280-2968. WSU students with disabilities should be referred to Nancy Dumke, Assistant Director of the Disability Resource Center, at (800) 342-5978.
The UCR Proctoring Center is located in AT308, which is within the UCR Learning Center. The best way to find the testing room is to visit the Learning Center in AT306 (third floor, Atrium).
Hours: M/T 12:30-4:30pm Th/F 8am-Noon. Please contact the Proctoring Center in person in AT308 during posted hours or email at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an exam time. Email is the best form of communication for the UCR Proctoring Center; the phone/voice mail is NOT a secure means of scheduling appointments.
WHAT TO PROVIDE: Instructors will need to provide to the proctor the name of the student(s), academic program or discipline, and specific instructions for the exam. A request for testing services form is available at the Learning Center reception desk for instructors to complete. This form can also be emailed to instructors on request. You can also download the form here.
FEES: Students who are not enrolled at RCTC, WSU or other MnSCU institutions will be charged a $20.00 testing fee for each exam. Students will need to visit the Cashier’s Office to pay this fee prior to the exam and bring their receipt to the UCR Proctoring Center. Students who are taking the Accuplacer assessment test will not be charged the testing fee.
INSTRUCTOR/ STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
UCR instructors are responsible for submitting the cover letter to the proctor, bringing or emailing the test to the proctor before the scheduled exam time, picking up the test after it is completed or making arrangements to have the test delivered or mailed to them.
*Students are responsible for scheduling an exam time with the proctor at least 24 hours in advance and providing a photo ID at the time of the exam. No exams will be administered without proper identification. Students should also be aware that electronic devices such as cell phones should be turned off while taking an exam. No backpacks or purses are allowed on the desks in the testing room.
