You may use the steps in this document to connect to the Internet
using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), which is also know
as "dial-up" access.
A modem is required. Follow these steps to connect:
1. Gather this information from your Internet service provider (ISP):
user name and password
dial-up number
Your user ID for UCR dial-up is your UCR e-mail address
Your password for UCR dial-up is the same as your web account password
The dial-up number for UCR is 529-2760Domain Name System (DNS) server addresses - (this will be dynamically supplied by UCR - meaning you won't need to know it)
2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu.
3. Choose Network from the View menu.
4. Choose Internal Modem from the Show pop-up menu.
5. Click the PPP tab.
6. Type the information you gathered in Step 1 into the corresponding fields. Your user name goes in the Account Name field. If you want the other users of this computer to use the same connection method, select the checkbox for "Save password."
7. Click the TCP/IP tab.
8. Choose either PPP or Manually from the Configure pop-up menu, as instructed by your Internet service provider. Manually would be used if your ISP gave you a static IP address. The static IP address would be entered in the IP address field. For UCR dial-up select PPP, an IP address will be dynamically supplied to you - meaning you won't need to know it.
9. Type the DNS addresses in the corresponding field. For UCR dial-up, DNS addresses will be dynamically supplied to you - Meaning you won't need to know it.
10. Click Apply Now.
11. Open a Web browser or other TCP/IP application to verify your connection to the Internet.
