E-mail is the official means of communication at RCTC?
All
students will receive e-mail accounts through the college. Your
email address is: <userid>@acad.roch.edu Your e-mail user ID is the same as your student login for the computer labs. The e-mail password is the same as your login password for the computer labs. E-mail can be accessed via the Internet at webmail.roch.edu. If you're not sure what your student login (userid) is,
go to eGuide (link opens a new browser window). Do a search by your last name. Select yourself by your first name. The result of the search will show your user ID and email address.
What if you don't know your password? Your initial
password is your birth date using the format YYYYMMDD. If that doesn't work try
99999999. If neither of these work try the password reset
tool or go to the Technology
Support Center with your picture id and request that your password be reset.

If you change your email password while in Outlook Live, the network and email passwords will no longer match.

If a student or applicant chooses to forward his/her mail to another email address (AOL, Hotmail, Gmail, etc.), the primary campus email address remains the destination for official RCTC correspondence.
All students are responsible for activating their university network ID and their email account. RCTC assigned student email accounts shall be the preferred means of communication with all students attending Rochester Community and Technical College. Students are responsible for all information sent to them via their officially assigned email account. If a student chooses to forward their RCTC email account, he or she is responsible for all information, including attachments, sent to any other email account.
Students who choose to have their email forwarded to a private email address outside the official RCTC network address will be doing so at their own risk. RCTC is not responsible for any difficulties that may occur in the proper or timely transmission or access of email forwarded to any unofficial email address, and any such problems will not absolve students of their responsibility to know and comply with the content of official communications sent to students' official RCTC email address.
