Hello, my name is Mary Swart. I teach speech communication courses.
I have been teaching at Rochester Community and Technical College since 1996 and have loved every minute of it (well almost every minute). Humor is a regular component in my classrooms and although I run a tight ship there is plenty of room for creative fun! You will be given ample opportunity to get to know your fellow classmates. I believe the best learning environments are those in which students feel safe and friendly towards each other as well as with their instructor. I truly enjoy the time shared with you and will learn as much from you as you do from me. If at any time during our semester together you are feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or confused about our course work please ask me for help. You will find me approachable, fair, and I will always have time for you. Two of my favorite words of wisdom are, "Showing up is half the battle" and "Bite the bullet and get it done!" See you soon.
