• Begin with an I statement:

  • I HEAR YOU SAYING…

• Repeat what you heard in your own words include:

  • content or the basic message
  • tone or the feelings or emotional message communicated
  • intent or why you think they told you this.

• End with a perception check question:

  • AM I CORRECT?
