University of Minnesota - Twin Cities

Liberal Education requirements

To see the University's requirements and which RCTC courses meet them, click U of M lib ed then scroll down to MN (Minnesota) and to the Rochester Cmty Tech College link. Click it.

This site lists the courses from RCTC that will fulfill the University’s Liberal Education requirements. It is to your advantage to look at this list closely. If you choose your courses carefully, you can sometimes get two requirements met with one course. For example, if you take HIST 1611 at RCTC, that will count at the University of Minnesota both as a Diversified Core - History and Social Science: Historical Perspective course and as a Designated Themes of Liberal Education: International Perspectives course.

IMPORTANT: Note that PHYS1127 and PHYS1128 from RCTC both count as Intensive Writing Courses at the University. (Now you don’t feel so oppressed by having had to write those formal lab reports…) This is extremely helpful for those students transferring to the University of Minnesota.
