RCTC provides students with free online tutoring services. Services are avilable to assist online students with learning skills, study skills, and specific course-related topics. Trained tutors will help you succeed with your academic goals! Help when you need it - 24 hours a day, anywhere, anytime!

Smarthinking tutoring services are limited to 10 hours per student, per year. There are different usage rates for different types of tutoring services. You will need to monitor your individual usage (you can keep track of this in the "my account" tab of your SMARTHINKING homepage) to insure that you do not exhaust your Smarthinking account privileges at a crucial point during the semester.

Several different ways to use SMARTHINKING services:

• Connect With an e-structor and interact with a live tutor when you have a question.
Note: The first time you use SMARTHINKING, you will get a “plug-in” notice. You must click "Yes" when asked if you will accept the plug-in.

• Submit your Writing for any class to our Online Writing Lab and receive feedback from a tutor usually within 24 hours.

• Submit a Question and a tutor will reply usually within 24 hours.

How To Access SMARTHINKING Services Via Your D2L Account:



The first time you use SMARTHINKING, click on "firstimers click here!"

This will take you to a page where you will be required to fill out a form to
create a custom username and password.

The log in can be found on your D2L site: http://rctc.ims.mnscu.edu
once you enter a class.

Connection: 28.8K min. / 56K+ preferred

Troubleshooting Tips:

Make sure that your browser is set up to allow cookies and pop-up windows. SMARTHINKING uses both of these.

Make sure that you have Java installed. If you need to install Java, go to http://www.java.com and follow the instructions for the free download.
