Known Issues for Learning Environment 9.0

Quiz Questions:
Weight for Correct Responses in T/F , M/C , FIB and SA question types needs to be "100" percent, not "1" percent. This has been an issue since the weight text box was changed from a drop-down menu to a plain text box where the instructor needs to enter a value. Entering a "1"
causes a big problem when the quiz is submitted, as it results in a final score that is one-hundredth of what it should be, and the quiz question scores need to be changed manually, which is a time-consuming task.
So please remind current D2L users and new D2L users that when creating quiz questions in D2L, a correct response should have a weight of "100."
Manage Files:
Manage Files displays an icon beside any files that are linked to Content topics. But when a course is copied via Copy Course Components, the icon does not display in the new course under Manage Files, even though the links to Content topics remain intact in the new course.
This has been reported to D2L. There is no ETA on a fix for the issue.
Course Home Page 500 Errors:
If you allow instructors to edit the course nav bar, you may run into cases where after the instructor edits a navbar, a 500 error occurs when trying to access the course home page. This will affect both instructors and students trying to enter the course. There is a workaround that campus site admins can implement to make the course accessible, but the affected nav bars are rendered inaccessible, so they cannot be "fixed" and we cannot identify specifically what caused the navbars to fail.
Ask faculty to report to you immediately if they or their students get a 500 error when trying to go to a course home page. Follow the troubleshooting steps provided here to identify the problem, and if possible, get detailed information from faculty about what changes they made to the navbar prior to getting the 500 error.

Clicking "New Survey" icon produces a 500 error. Temporary Workarounds: 1. Use Respondus to create the survey, although the question types in Respondus surveys do not include Likert. 2. Copy or Export an existing survey and edit/add questions. Prognosis: Hotfix is available, request for deployment has been submitted to D2L. (99088)

User Progress

Impersonating a user changes the "last accessed" date/time that displays to the instructor in the Classlist. Any actions you take while impersonating (viewing content, reading discussions, etc.) will also be recorded in User Progress. We have indicated to D2L that this is a serious issue we would like to have resolved before fall semester. (99274)
File Manager

File Manager if you upload a file that has the identical filename to a file already in File Manager, it will not prompt with a "do you want to overwrite?" alert. Instead it creates a second file and appends numbering to the filename. If syllabus.pdf already exists and you upload a file with the name syllabus.pdf it will upload the file and append its name to read syllabus(1).pdf (This will be fixed in MR1-expected release date end of June 30) (99132)
View Progress

If the student role is given permission to View Progress at the Course Offering level (making the View Progress button available to students from within the classlist), the student can see the "Edit Course" link on the nav bar, and the Course Administration widget. They can only see Edit Course items that they have permission for, such as View User Progress, to view only their own progress. The Course Admin widget displays the View User Progress link. D2L identified this as a Usability Issue. The workaround is to remove the permission from the Student role for the ePortfolio tool to Manage Forms and Manage Themes. This will prevent the student from seeing the Course Administration widget, but the Edit Course link will still be visible on the Navbar. (98967)
Import New User

Cannot import a user from one site to another as was possible in past versions. System Site Admins often imported user accounts from one school's D2L site to MnSite, for instance, so campus site admins and trainers could have access to the MnSite "Site Admins and Campus Trainers" course. That was a convenience to the user because they could
use the same username/password for MnSite as they used for their school's D2L login. (98724)

If a user has the same account and password at several D2L instances (the user's own school and MnSite, for example), if the password is changed at one site it will not update the password at the other sites. (98714)
