WORD WEEK: ADVENTURES IN FICTION & CREATIVE NON-FICTION

WORST FIRSTS:
RCTC students write "worst firsts"--bad first lines of a prose work. Winners' cards will be sent to the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest (where www means Wretched Writers Welcome).

MONDAY
10:00 a.m. Reading/talk by Susan Power at Rockenbach Gym--RCTC.
All classes/students welcome. Public welcome.

11:15 a.m. Book sale and signing / chat with the author. Rockenbach Gym

5:00 p.m. RCTC English Department (and other interested parties) dine with Susan Power at Redwood Room.

7:30 p.m. evening reading/talk by Susan Power in Rockenbach Gym

TUESDAY

12:00-1:15: Susan Power works with writers in RCTC's fiction writing class.

WEDNESDAY

9:00 to 1:00
Publication party for the new RCTC lit magazine in Atrium: Yellowjacket Review.

9:00 to 1:00
Open mic for reading of works of prose (not more than 10 minutes each)
In Atrium (students and public invited to participate).

Suggestion box set up for permanent name of RCTC literary journal (temporary
name = Yellowjacket Review).

THURSDAY
12:00-1:15
Read/critique of short, prose readings.
RCTC fiction class and community fiction writers in CC 206-208, at RCTC.

Students and public welcome to listen and observe a writing group in action.

Judging of "Worst Firsts".
