Studio
A is used by the students taking both audio production and music synthesis
courses. The lab is connected to six remote recording spaces including
five sound isolation booths and one large recording room equipped with a
9' Steinway Grand.
Studio A is also connected to Studio D which incorporates a MIDI Drum Kit for "real-time" MIDI percussion recording to sequencer. The studio is currently being transformed into a 5.1 surround production space as well.
The physical space has been acoustically treated with an inner sound barrier with cloth pass-through walls with bass traps inside the inner walls. The db rating of the room is approximately 38db.
