Programmer
Some programmers are very creative, lateral thinkers. It certainly helps!
Requires high level ability with both PCs and MACs. Languages include C++,
Visual Basic, Windows.
Project Manager
Getting it done - co-ordinating, chivvying, understanding and sorting out
problems. Broadly based software, management and communication skills.
Sound Technician / Musicians
Sound plays a criticial role in multimedia and fitting the sound to the rest
of the information rather like the piano accompaniment to a silent film...
takes great skill. Often from a sound recording background - good musicians,
who can compose bites are highly sought after. Many companies will use specialist
sound providers once the visuals and text are complete, It is rare for sound
specialists to be in at the beginning of projects.
Video Technician
Making and/or editing video to match the text. Most will come from post-production
backgrounds, and a thorough understanding of digitising video is essential.
Rebel Technical Coordinator
This is my favorite job title -- from Industrial Light and Magic's listing
of job titles. At their company, the job involves coordinating the real life
actors and scenery with the computer generated actors and scenery. Job
listings on their site change constantly.
Skills emphasized:
Adaptability - ability to cope with constant change
Ability to learn new things quickly - and enjoy keeping up to date
Client-focused - interpersonal skills
Commercial awareness
Team membership skills
Genuine interest in computer technology and applications
The ability to generate creative connections between ideas and their presentations!

Macromedia makes multimedia development
software. Their Web site plugs their products but includes articles, files,
product profiles, a glossary of multimedia terms (extensive), educational
uses, information on job hunting in multimedia, etc. Very high end.
