
NEW: Regional Football/Soccer Stadium
The RCTC Women's Soccer team lost in the semi finals 1 - 3 versus Ocean County CC but bounced back and defeated Holyoke CC 2-1 in the 3rd/4th place game all without 2 starters who suffered major injuries in the first game of the tournament.

The RCTC Women's Soccer team won the District title by beating North Lake College in Irving, TX 3-1. The Yellow Jackets scored the first goal 17:00 min into the game when Kayla Fitzsimmons (Mahtomedi, MN) received a ball from Nikki Borkhuis (Watertown, SD) and took a shot from 25 yards out that went over the North Lake goal keeper into the upper corner. North Lake then tied the game in the 28th minute when they got a break away and placed it past goalkeeper Jenna Kaiser (Marshfield, WI) into the far corner. The half ended with a 1-1 tie. Both teams had 6 shots on goal during the first half. The Yellow Jacket scored their second goal 23 minutes into the second half when Kayla Fitzsimmons kicked a corner kick into the goal area and Kirsten Goeringer (Belle Fousche, SD)stepped in front of the goal keeper to score. The third goal came 12 min. from the end of the game when Sarah Snyder (Cottage Grove, MN) passed the ball to Kayla Fitzsimmons who then shot the ball over the North Lake goal keeper. The Yellow Jackets dominated the second half of the game7 shots. The defense only allowed one shot on goal the second half. Jenna Kaiser (Marshfield, WI) made 7 saves in goal. They will play their next game in Dallas against Ocean County College from New Jersey for the Semi Finals of the National Tournament. The Yellow Jackets record is 14-6-1.

RCTC beat Anoka-Ramsey 8-0 in the Region XIII Championship on Oct. 24. The Yellow Jackets are now getting ready to go to Texas to play for the berth into the National tournament. The District tournament will be held Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in Irving, TX. The National Tournament will be held Nov. 8 & 9 in Dallas, TX

Coach Deb Hare Deb Hare started the women's soccer program in 1998, Since then they have posted a 80-25-19 record. They team has won the Region XIII Championship every season but one. They have been ranked in the top ten National every year since 2002. The soccer program has produced numerous All Americans. It has also given players the opportunity to go on to four year universities to continue their career. |
