Deborah Hare

Deb Hare enters her 7th year as Head Coach for the Women's Soccer Team. Deb was an assistant coach for Winona State University's women's soccer program, after completing her collegiate career in which she played goalkeeper for three years at High Point University in North Carolina, and her final at Winona State University. Deb earned All Region, All District, and conference honors during her four years of competition while also being ranked among the top ten goalkeepers in the nation. Deb is also on the coaching staff for the Minnesota Olympic Development Program for Women's Soccer. deborah.hare@roch.edu

Steve Huck

This will be Coach Hucke's 4th year as the Head Coach. He came to RCTC from UW-River Falls. Since his arrival the RCTC Women's Basketball Team and the Baseball team have consistently been near the top in the MCCC. The fast break style of the Yellowjackets have garnered National recognition highlighted in 2003-04 when they led the Nation in scoring with 79.3 ppg (73.5 ppg over the past 3 years). The Women's team participated in the MCCC State Tournament in 2003-04 finishing 5th overall in the State. The baseball team has seen much success since his arrival as they have averaged 22 wins the past 3 years (67-51overall & 43-20 in the MCCC) The Yellowjackets have finished 2nd in the Southern Division of the MCCC the past 2 years and participated in the MCCC State Tournament all 3 years & The Regional Tournament in 2003 & 2005.He teaches in the Physical Education Department. He resides in Byron with his wife, Dawn and their 2 children Danielle and Collin.

Chris Stenzel, Assistant Women's Basketball Coach (2nd yr)Chris comes to RCTC after spending the past 13 years serving as an Assistant Girls Basketball coach at Rochester Mayo High School. While at Mayo, Chris was part of 2 state Championship teams and hopes to bring that experience to RCTC and help the Yellowjackets reach the National Tournament. Chris will be in charge of the Defensive schemes and assist in recruiting future Yellowjackets to RCTC. Chris is from Freeborn, MN. He received his AA in Pre-Education at RCTC and his BS in Physical Education from Southwest State University. While he attended RCTC, he played for the RCTC Yellowjacket Football team. He currently works at Rochester Off-Campus Charter School and resides in Rochester with his wife Jackie.

Brad LaPlante enters his fifth year as Head Football Coach of the Yellowjackets and also assumes the role of Men’s Athletic Coordinator.  In 2007 LaPlante led RCTC to the NJCAA DIII National Championship with a record of 11-0.  The Yellowjackets averaged 47 pts while only giving up 11 pts per game.  RCTC’s had the #1 ranked offense, and the #5 defense in the nation. Since 2004, LaPlante has led the Yellowjackets to 4 State Championship Games (winning 3) and 2 NJCAA Bowl Bids (2004 Top of the Mountains Bowl-Utah and 2005 Graphic Edge Bowl-Iowa). LaPlante’s Head Coaching Record entering the 2008 Season is 36-10.  He previously coached Offensive Line for the Yellowjackets from 1999 until 2002 and was Co-Offensive Coordinator from 2000-2002.  During those years, the Yellowjackets earned 3 State Titles and 4 Bowl Game Berths (Iowa, Iowa, Utah, Kansas). In 2003, Coach LaPlante was the Offensive Line Coach for the New Caney Eagles near Houston, Texas.  The Eagles earned a playoff berth for the first time since 1997. 

A former All-State player from Chatfield, MN, Brad played Center for RCTC in 1997 and 1998 earning All-conference, All-State and All-Region Honors.  Both years the Yellowjackets were State Champs and earned Bowl Games in New York and Iowa. 

Coach LaPlante earned his AS-Degree from RCTC, Bachelor’s Degree from Winona State University and his Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota.  Brad is married to his beautiful wife Christie, who is a Special Education teacher in Rochester.  They have 2 children, Carson (3 yrs old) and Cashton (22 months).

Brian Laplante

Brian LaPlante has completed his 10th year as head coach of the men's basketball team and is involved in his 3rd year as Men's and Women's Golf Coach.. Prior to coming to RCTC, he was an assistant coach for both Women's Basketball and Men's Baseball at Winona State University. Brian completed his BS in Physical Education at Winona State University and his Masters Degree in Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jean Musgjerd

Jean Musgjerd is in her 14th season as Head Volleyball Coach and 11th season as Head Softball Coach. Jean also currently is our women's Athletic Director and the NJCAA Region XIII Director. In 2004 she lead the volleyball team within one match of the NJCAA National Division III Tournament. The 2003 softball team also finished only one step away from competing in the NJCAA National Tournament. Prior to coming to RCTC, Jean held positions as head and assistant Volleyball Coach at Bemiji State University and Rochester John Marshall High School. Jean is from Kenyon, MN and completed her BS in Physical Education and MS in Physical Education/Sports Administration at Bemiji State University. in 2000, Jean was named as one of BSU's Top 15 Female Athletes. Jean teaches a variety of courses in the Health and Physical Education Department. jean.musgjerd@roch.edu

Randy Rager is the Head Wrestling Coach at RCTC. Rager is still the All-Time Winningest Wrestler in NCAA DII History with 162 collegiate wins while wrestling for the University of Minnesota-Morris in the late 90's. He was a 3-Time Academic All-American and 2-Time MVP for the University of Morris. Randy completed his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Minnesota-Morris and is nearly completed with 2 Master's Degrees from St. Cloud State University. Rager was an Assistant Coach at SCSU from 2001-2004 and has been very involved in USA Wrestling Clubs since 2000.

Klaus Alberts in his 2nd season with RCTC will be serving as the Assistant Wrestling Coach. Klaus brings an exceptional amount of experience and talent to the coaching staff. As a local wrestler from Hayfield, MN, Klaus won a Minnesota State Championship in 1997. He then competed at Saint Cloud State University where he gained NCAA Division II All-American status by placing third in the 1999 National Tournament.
Jim Williams

Jim Williams, MA, ATC, is the RCTC Fitness Center Director. Prior to coming to RCTC, Jim was the Director of Sports Medicine at Athens/ Lime-stone Hospital in Athens, Alabama. Jim worked with the Minnesota Vikings during the 1998 season and was an assistant athletic trainer for the 1999 Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Jim is from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and completed his undergraduate in Athletic Training and his Masters in Health Studies/Sports Medicine Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama. jim.williams@roch.edu - Athletic Trainer.
