2008 Season Outlook

The 2008 season is upon us and the Yellowjackets are looking to improve on their 7-31 seson from last year. Head Coach Steve Hucke really can't put his finger on what happened last year and is not dwelling on it because seasons and players change and anything is possible. "I feel that we are stronger at all postions this year and we will be more competitive on the mound," 6th year Head Coach Steve Hucke stated, "we have good chemistry and are more skilled than last year in some key areas."

RCTC returns starting pitchers Lee Dolan, Clear Creek HS (TX), Chase Olson, Zumbrota-Mezeppa, Kyle Pronschinske, Whitehall (WI) and Corey Schaaf, Belle Plaine to help anchor the staff this year. They will be joined by Freshmen: Noah Grove, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Tyler Drinkall, Rushford-Peterson, Brady Mosenden, New Ulm, Shane Brandt, Eisenhower HS (IL), Wade Yunker, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Dylan Berg, Tigerton, WI and sophomore transfer Nate Briscoe, Edina, MN to help them out this year.

In the field Kyle Strand, Desoto (WI) returns to anchor the infield and Nick Carroll, Forest Lake will be behind the plate this year after splitting time at 2nd base last year. Keegan Byrne, Red Wing, will return in the OF as well as Jimi Zawacki, Osseo-Fairchild (WI) to form a fast and talented group of outfielders that include freshmen Wade Yunker, Seth Karlsrud, Red Wing, Matt Baier, Springfield, Nate Briscoe and Jon Miranda, Stewartville. Dylan Berg, Shane Brandt and Matt Baier will work at 3B as well and Tyler Smith, Mineral Point (WI), Ty Shatzer, LaCrosse (WI), Tom Kramer, Blooming Prairie, Jesse Halloran, Chatfield, and Justin Gregor, Waterville Elysian Moristown, round out the infield. s

Andrew Anfinson will share duties behind the plate. "We may be young but I feel that we will be deeper and be able to compete," Hucke replied, "they have worked hard to get ready for the season and we look to be contending in the MCCC Southern Division." Ridgewater, Dakota County will be the teams to beat with Riverland being much improved and will be thrown into the mix. Good Luck to the Yellowjackets this season!
