8:00 AM Meet at the entrance to East Hall, RCTC. Bus leaves at 8:10 AM.

9:50 AM Arrive at MIA

9:50-10:00 Coat Check at MIA

10:00-11:00 Docent led tour at MIA (pre-Modern works of art)

11:00 AM-12:50 PM Free Time (includes a lunch break) at MIA**

12:50 PM Meet at entrance to MIA

1:00-2:00 PM Docent led tour of MIA (modern & contemporary works of art)

2:00-2:25 Free time at the MIA*

2:30 PM Meet at front door of the MIA.

Depart for RCTC.

4:20 PM Arrive back at RCTC (approximate time)

*You should spend some of your free time at the museum selecting, looking at, and sketching the objects you will write about for your two papers.

For your two papers: choose one work of art from the MIA morning tour and one work of art from the afternoon tour (two art objects total, one from each tour). Art objects need to be selected from the group of objects on our docent-led tours at the museum. Do not choose objects that were not viewed on your docent-led tours.

**There are two cafeterias available at the MIA: a deli on the first floor, and a cafeteria-style restaurant on Floor Two and a Half. Or you can bring a bag lunch and eat at tables outside the deli.

PLEASE BRING

∑ Pencil (you cannot use a pen in the museums)

∑ Notebook or something you can write on

∑ Museum Paper Assignment Handout (so you know what information you need to gather at the museums)

∑ Camera without flash (optional)***

∑ Bag lunch (if you want) or money for lunch.

***Cameras without flash are allowed at the MIA.

Museum Rules

Some basic rules for both museums:

No food or drink in the museums
No running
Do not touch works of art (stay about 10-12" away)
Pens are not permitted in the galleries. Use a pencil for notes and sketches.
No backpacks allowed in the museum (the museum provides lockers near the entrance. You can store backpacks, lunches, coats, etc., in the lockers. Also, there is a coat check at the MIA)
